UTOC 2012 election

22 03 2012

Hi UTOC,

Thursday, March 29, 7:00 pm, at a location TBD, will be UTOC’s annual executive council election. The election will be followed by a pub night at Toby’s on College, beginning around 9:00.

Joining the executive is a good opportunity to make a difference in how the club is run. The following executive positions will be available:

President - chairs exec meetings, sets the Club’s agenda and direction for the year
Vice President - responsible for administrative duties shared with the president
Treasurer -
responsible for the Club’s finances
Secretary -
takes meeting minutes and distributes them to exec members
Activities Officer -
co-ordinates with members to help organize activities
Membership Officer - maintains the member lists
Pubs (Publicity, Publications and Pub Nights) Officer - prepares publications (such as this email) and organizes the pub nights
Webmaster - maintains the website
…and various co-ordinator positions (e.g., cycling, hiking, canoeing, etc.)

Many of the exec members are moving on from school to other challenges, and the club needs new members to step up and take charge. Without you, there can be no UTOC.

We will also have an informal exec meeting and a few drinks at Einstein’s on Thursday March 22 at 8:00 pm; if you’re interested in running for a position on the executive (which will look GREAT on your resume), you’re encouraged to come and find out more about the club’s inner workings.

If you have any questions, please get in touch.

We apologize that the online membership form is not currently working. If you recently submitted the membership form, no worries, we will follow through and make sure the membership application is processed. There are many ways to become a member

1. Come in person to our office: see Contacts page for office hours and location. You can drop off a completed membership form http://utoc.sa.utoronto.ca/files/2011/09/utocmembershipformupdated.pdf outside of office hours by leaving it in our mailbox on the door.

2. Print out the membership form, fill it out, sign the waiver, and send it with the appropriate membership fee (cheque) to the address below. This is the easiest way to become a member! Current members are strongly encouraged to renew their membership with this form too.

University of Toronto Outing Club
c/o Membership Officer, 21 Sussex Ave, Suite 607, Toronto, ON, M5S 1J6

3. Come to our Fall General Meeting (already passed) or our Spring General Meeting (in March or April) and pick up a membership application (and find out more about the club). When we have an exact date for the meeting, it will be posted here on this web page.

4.  Fill out the membership form, scan and email to us with the paypal donation ID of the appropiate amount ($20 for students, $30 for other individuals and $40 for family – a couple and a child). Send payment through paypal at utoc@gmail.com or click here https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_s-xclick&hosted_button_id=GTH55UKR5AFYQ to pay.

After you do either one, go to this link https://groups.google.com/group/utoc2011?hl=en and request membership (2nd line on the left). It’s straightforward if you have a gmail account, otherwise request a google account with your existing email address. In the “additional info” box, include your paypal donation ID or indicate how else you paid, name and (if applicable) student number.

Clubs day, annual general meeting, pub night and much more

1 09 2011

It’s that time of year again, the summer is coming to an end and the fall is approaching fast. Despite what misgivings that change of season brings, it means that UTOC will be returning to full swing, an uproarious occasion! With that in mind we invite you all to come visit us this coming Wednesday, the 7th, at UTSU’s club fair at Hart House Circle where we’ll be fielding a booth from 10am-2pm. You’ll be able to renew your memberships for the year and check out what awesome trips we have planned for the coming semester. Later that same day we’ll be having a pub night starting around 8.30pm at Molly Blooms and encourage you to come join in the camaraderie. Come out to the see the old faces and the new; begin contemplating, anticipating, and fantasizing about what excursions you’ll see this year with UTOC. If you can’t make that, fear not, we’ll tentatively be having our Fall General meeting Thursday, Sept.15th at Hart House(pending space confirmation), so save the date! Expect a followup email in a week for confirmation. The year looks very promising, and we look forward to seeing all of you.

Sincerely your,
UTOC Exec

P.s. If you have some free time this Wednesday, UTOC could use some volunteers to help man our booth, recruit members, and share past experiences. We’ll be doing two shifts from 10-12, and 12-2.
